Have you ever thought of joining Designated
Drivers of Alaska? The first thing you need to
answer is why you would want to join. If it’s just for the
money and a steady income this probably isn’t the right place
for you. If it’s to help the community and make a little extra
side cash then keep reading.
Since we charge such a ridiculously low fee to provide our DD
service, there simply isn’t a ton of cash to go around.
If, however, you believe this is a service that is beneficial to Anchorage and you still want
to be a part of it in exchange for minimal compensation, then this might be for you.
You know the concept: A two-driver team meets the impaired
customer at their vehicle, Driver #1 operates the customer’s car with the
customer
as a passenger, Driver #2 follows in a chase car to pick up Driver #1. Our
drivers are all Independent Contractors, and they use their own personal
vehicles as chase cars. As a
contractor,
there is no salary, no hourly pay and no stand-by pay. Your
payment is based on fees collected, with a small percentage
going to Designated Drivers of Alaska to help cover
our operating and advertising expenses. Any
gratuities paid by grateful customers are split 50/50 between drivers. Pretty
simple math, just keep in mind that there are no guarantees there will
be business on any given evening.
