FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why is drinking and driving a really dumb thing to do?

You know all the reasons, of course.  But check out the shocking  videos of these unfortunate inebriates.  You just never know when someone might have a video camera, and you could find yourself looking like an idiot on YouTube.

On a more serious note, we often lose sight of the very serious and permanent consequences of impaired driving.

Following is a compiled video of scenes from the successful TAC Campaign commercials produced by the Transport Accident Commission of Victoria, Australia.

How does it work?

We provide a professional driver to get both you and your car home safely and affordably.  Our driver will operate your vehicle and you ride as a passenger. A second chase car follows to pick up our driver.

How do I schedule a ride home?

Scheduling your ride home couldn’t be easier.  Simply give us a call at 830-SAFE (830-7233).  If you prefer, send an email to: reservations@ddalaska.com or make your reservation online at www.ddalaska.com, and we will get back with you via phone or email to confirm the pick-up date, time and fee.

How do I find you when it comes time for my ride?

When we arrive, we will text or call to get your vehicle location and we’ll meet you at your car.

What happens when you pick me up?

We'll need to see your driver’s license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance.  We will also do a quick safety and seat belt check, and we'll have you sign a liability waiver.  Then you close your eyes, click your heels together three times, and say, "There's no place like home," plant yourself in the passenger seat, sit back and enjoy the ride.  Before you know it, you and your car will be home safe and sound.

How do I pay for a ride?

Card, cash or check.  You will pay the driver at the time of pick-up.  If you prefer, you may purchase Gift Certificates in advance.  Gift certificates make great birthday presents or stocking stuffers! Save money by purchasing in increments of 5 or 10, then use them yourself or give them to your friends.

How much does a ride cost?

The fee for most destinations within the Anchorage area is $40.  For distances greater than ten miles from the point of pick-up, there is a modest $2.00 per mile surcharge.  Passengers dropped off at additional locations along the way are $5.00 each.

Do I need to make an advance reservation?

Advance reservations are recommended to make sure we have drivers available at your desired pick-up time.  We realize that you may not decide you need a ride until you are well into the evening, and we can usually accommodate you on relatively short notice.  Just keep in mind that spur of the moment requests are based on driver availability, so there could be a bit of a wait. Our busiest time is between 1 and 3 AM, so plan accordingly and please contact us at least 30 minutes prior to your desired pickup time.

Can I change the time or pick-up location, or cancel after I make the reservation?

We understand that sometime plans change.  All we ask is that you notify us at least an hour prior to the scheduled pick-up time if you need to change the time or location, or if you need to cancel the ride.

What are your hours of operation?

9:00 P.M. to 3:00 A.M. Drivers are standing by on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during those hours. During the week, please contact us prior to 10:00 PM if you foresee needing a ride that evening so we can make sure to have drivers available.

What if I live outside of Anchorage?

Our normal pick-up and delivery area is within the Anchorage bowl.  We are happy to accommodate you with service to Eagle River, Girdwood, or the Mat-Su Valley, just keep in mind that there will be an additional mileage surcharge.

How many passengers can be dropped off on my way home?

We are happy to pick-up and deliver as many additional passengers as we can safely and legally fit in your vehicle.  There is a $5.00 surcharge for each additional destination. If there are multiple delivery destinations, you and your vehicle will be dropped off last.

Is a driver gratuity included in my fee?

A driver gratuity is not included in the quoted fare.  Please feel free to show your appreciation to the driver if you are satisfied with his or her service.

Can you provide service for special events like weddings or parties or during daylight hours pick-ups?

Of course we can!  Simply contact us in advance with your requests, and we are happy to provide drivers outside of our normal dispatch hours.

Are your drivers qualified?

Our drivers all pride themselves on their prompt, courteous and professional service.  They have all undergone full background and driving record checks.
